Partner with Raphael, SIFAT, and BACCOT for Small-Business and Skill-Acquisition Training for Internally Displaced Women in N.E. Nigeria - Goal: $7,000 + Sustainable Development
I'm excited to announce that Raphael is working through BACCOT (Bannah Center for Community Transformation) and with SIFAT on micro-enterprise training with women in Northeast Nigeria. I (Becca) will be helping with this campaign toward $7,000 for skill-acquisition and small business training that will pay off in the start of small businesses for women in Nigeria with whom BACCOT has been working.

Project Beneficiaries:
i. What community will this project benefit? Internally displaced women /their extended families and our target community.
ii. What is the problem being addressed? Nearly 2 million persons in the last 9 years are being displaced from their ancestral homes in northeast Nigeria by the Islamic terrorist group known as boko haram. Majority of these persons are Christians who have become refugees in communities outside of their homes. In 2016, BACCOT provided income generating training for 15 women of this group of persons. Recently, a spacious farm land has been acquired for the husbands of these women. However, a large number of other women in the community are not so privileged like our beneficiaries. To this end, BACCOT will undertake to provide additional training for 50 women over the period of two years.
It is anticipated that the project will address the following specific issues:
a. Unemployment
b. Poverty
c. Bitterness and unforgiveness
d. Illiteracy.
e. Malnutrition.
Project Schedule:
a. Sensitization and mobilization for training: About 1st week of March, 2018
b. Identification and selection process: 3 rd week of March, 2018
c. Batch 1 training: 2nd week of September, 2018
d. Batch 2 training: 2nd week of October, 2018
e. Batch 3 training: 2nd week of November, 2018
Budget:
i. Training materials for skill acquisition = $1385
ii. Training material for vegetable = $280
iii. Administrative charge to SIFAT account = $647.5
iv. Feeding for 90 people/2 day/3 batches = 1669
(food stuff will be purchased from beneficiaries
of the farm project to avoid high cost)
v. In kind take off grant = $2770
v. Wire transfer fees (3) = $41
vi. Honorarium = $200/3 batches = $600
vii. Total $7392.5
(Updated total is $7415.40, budget totals to be updated to reflect this.)

ii. Sale points(it could be in front of their yards or at the open market)
iii. Time
Market: The primary objective of this project is to help beneficiaries acquire skills that will
enable become self reliant so as to provide additional source of income for their displaced
families.
Ultimate independent and sustainability: This is a sustainable development project that
aims at building capacity for internally displaced women to meet their very basic human needs.
BACCOT will work with beneficiaries to save and plan towards self- supporting within two
years.

Graduate Committee in 2016/2017. So far, complete payment has been made for the land.

(CALENDAR: 1. Jan - March, 2. April June, 3. July - Sept. 4.Oct - Dec) This was another key SIFAT approved project that was successfully executed by BACCOT.

Current Project from BACCOT with Raphael in N.E. Nigeria:
This proposal aims at providing training for 50 most vulnerable internally displaced women in north eastern region of Nigeria. The proposed project will cover two areas namely, vegetable (such as pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, green leaf vegetable among others) and Skill acquisition (soap making, petroleum jelly and bead making). The training will be conducted in 3 batches as stated in our schedule below. This project will enhance capacity building for women who are mostly at the forefront of community development in Africa.
